About Retroflo
Meet the Team

Based in offices in the North East of England, Retroflo employ technical, development and engineering personnel to undertake a range of EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) projects across commercial and industrial sectors. The Retroflo approach combines extensive industry experience with technical innovation and exemplary quality standards to offer cutting-edge EICA services.

Over many years’ working in the water industry we have been at the vanguard of energy management, and pioneered a pump control system that has been proven to dramatically reduces pump blockages, maintenance call outs and energy consumption. In 2008 Retroflo made the system available to a wider market, launching the award-winning RPC_2000 - the world's first complete pump control system.

Key Personnel

Andy Laundon Retroflo Operations Director

Andy Laundon

Andy has extensive electrical and ICA management experience across industrial and commercial sectors, and specialist knowledge of the water industry. He was involved in the research and development of the Retroflo system and became Operations Director at the formation of the company in 2008. His responsibilities include R&D, Sales /Marketing, Cost Control, Health and Safety and Quality.

Prior to the establishment of Retroflo, Andy spent 18 years working for Byzak, one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary engineering companies. In 2002 Andy was tasked with setting up the company’s in-house M&E division. During his time managing the division it grew to employ over 100 staff and hold strategic frameworks with some of the UK's leading water companies. Andy also oversaw the division’s diversification into more specialist fields such as Telemetry, DSEAR and SCADA.

Andy's approach is based on gaining a clear understanding of end-user requirements before building a solution. It was while working closely with end-users that Andy first saw the opportunity for an all-inclusive pump controller, and the thoughts and inspiration behind Retroflo were formed.

Lee Bishton Retroflo Technical Director

Lee Bishton

Lee Bishton has 20 years’ experience in the Electrical industry, beginning his career in 1992 as an Electrical Technician. In 2010 Lee achieved an MSc in Fluid Machinery Engineering from the Engineering Department of Lancaster University.

Lee became Technical Director at the formation of Retroflo in 2008 and is responsible for the technical aspects of the company’s EICA projects, including research and development, design, optimisation and commissioning.

Prior to the formation of Retroflo, Lee joined Byzak in February of 2002 in the role of M&E Commissioning Manager. His primary responsibilities included the commissioning of water treatment plant: from dry testing and the introduction of live process flows, to handover of the equipment to the customer.

This required a close working relationship with the operators, providing an invaluable insight into the needs of the end-user. The knowledge Lee gained in the industry has been applied in the research and development of the Retroflo’s innovative and award-winning pump control systems.
